My name is Tom Randa and I am a retired secondary school teacher with the Department of Education and Training. I have been a pioneer in Digital Imaging and Processing starting in 1997 to the present day. I have won a Gold award for creative, innovative and effective use of learning technologies and curriculum development in a digital world from the Southern Metropolitan Region and two awards from the Southern E Learning Technologies Expo. I was one of the first teachers to change from a paper school magazine to the CD format and have produced four CDs, the first in 1999. " Tom has been with our College since 1994 and during this time he has retrained himself from a traditional Art teacher, using wet photography, to an excellent command of all facets of digital imaging. He has led the physical transformation of the facilities and equipment necessary to implement this curriculum change for our students and yet has retained the ability for some students to experience the "darkrom" in addition to expanding digital skills". Sue Seaton, Principal. 11/5/2003 " Tom is today the foremost exponent of digital imagery in secondary schools. He has arrived at this point after thousands of hours of DIY professional development. Over seven years he has seamlessly transitioned the Photography department from a wet darkroom to an entiely PC based course". Michael Bragge, Arts Co-ordinator, 21/5/2003
